Obituary for Winifred J. "Winnie" Slaughter

A Funeral Service for Winnie will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Jeff Jensen presiding.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska.

Public Graveside Services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Belleville Cemetery in Belleville, Kansas.

Memorials are to be directed to the Evangelical Free Church.

Winifred Jane Slaughter was born May 14, 1957 to Don and Dorothy Slaughter in Washington, KS and departed this life September 14, 2021 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE.

Winnie attended grade school and middle school in Belleville, KS and graduated from Belleville High School. She attended Cloud County Community College in Concordia, KS after which she started working at MC Industries in Belleville, KS. She later went to work for the company in Geneva, NE where she became plant manager. Winnie dealt with M.S. for many years and had to retire early.

Growing up, Winnie attended Central Christian Church in Belleville, KS and after moving to Geneva she became a member of the Geneva Evangelical Free Church where she was very involved with the youth and Vacation Bible School.

Winnie was preceded in death by her brother- in - law Don Johannes of Little Rock, Arkansas.

She is survived by her parents Don and Dorothy Slaughter of Belleville, KS and sisters Jacque Johannes of Little Rock, Arkansas; Vickie (Rick) Hagen of Belleville, KS and Pat (Lester) Bergstrom of Cuba, KS. She is also survived by 1 niece and 7 nephews who meant the world to her; Joshua Johannes, Christopher Johannes, Amanda Schroeder, Galen Hagen, Shelby Hagen, Ethan Bergstrom, Alex Bergstrom, Spencer Bergstrom, many great-nieces and great-nephews and her sister and brother in Christ, Melanie and Sam Boon of Fairmont, NE.
