Obituary of Shirley Ann Baker
Shirley Ann Baker, the daughter of Glenn Greer and Ruth (Jay) Greer was born October 3, 1947 in LaJunta, Colorado and passed away on July 26, 2024 at the Sunset Home, Concordia, Kansas at the age of 76.
Shirley grew up in Colorado and Kansas, later graduating from Friends University high school and college at Haviland, Kansas. She attended one year of college there also.
In her late teens and early 20’s, she was a CNA in Greensburg, Kansas. On November 7, 1970, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Baker, and to this union two children were born. The couple made their home in Hoxie, Kansas where she was a convenience store clerk for most of her life. In 2000, they moved to Belleville, Kansas to be near family.
Shirley was also active in local Churches and attended the Morland Assembly of God Church in Morland, Kansas for several years. In recent years, she attended the 4 J Cowboy Church in Concordia, Kansas.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ruth Greer; Her husband, William “Bill” Baker in 2021; Siblings, Richard “Dick” Greer, Charles “Chuck” Greer, Adelle Hunnicutt, and an infant child.
She is survived by one son Willie Baker; one daughter, Ellen (Leonard) Ball of Belleville, Kansas; 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Steve (Terri) Greer of Speed, Kansas, and Robert “Bob” (Charlotte) Greer of Penokee, Kansas; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 5 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024 and After 1 PM until 3 PM on Monday, August 5th at funeral home.
