Obituary of Royce H. Noland
Royce H. Noland, the son of Lucian Noland and Georgia (Burgess) Noland, was born December 15, 1942 at Lake Providence, Louisiana and passed away on August 12, 2025 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 82.
Royce grew up in Louisiana, graduating from Monticello High School, Monticello, LA. After his graduation he joined the United States Air Force, serving for 20 years from 1960 until 1980. He was stationed in Thailand, Vietnam, Okinawa and several stateside bases. Royce received, among many other commendations, the National Defense Service Medal for his service in Vietnam
After his honorable discharge, he came to Belleville, Kansas to become and educator and attended Cloud County Community College attaining an associate’s degree; and then attended Emporia State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He also was involved in trucking for a short time.
Royce then taught at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO for several years and served as the basketball coach. Royce later returned to Belleville, KS where he was a substitute teacher. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Royce was united in marriage to Phyllis Noland and to this union: Jeff, Greg, Kimberly, and Pam was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Georgia Noland; and two daughters, Kimberly and Pamela; brother, Wayne.
Royce is survived by two sons, Jeff (Lisa) Noland and Greg Noland all of Belleville, KS; grandchildren, Erica, Kristin, and Chase; siblings Elaine, Linda, and Sharon; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Ida Cemetery, rural Munden, KS, with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating.
Military Graveside Honors presented by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Interment will follow the military graveside rites.
The casket has been closed and friends may sign the register book from 4 PM until 6 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
