Rodene C. Brooks
June 16, 1936 – July 30, 2025
Rodene C. Brooks, daughter of Rodney and Gladys (Deschand) Trimble, was born on June 16, 1936, on a farm near Clyde, Kansas. She passed away on July 30, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 89.
Rodene grew up in the Agenda/Clyde area, attending Manning Grade School near Agenda and graduating from Clyde Rural High School in 1954. On June 7, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Alvin G. Brooks, and together they had four children: Alvi, Carol, Wayne, and Del.
Rodene worked for 11 years in the cafeteria at Clyde High School and for 20 years at Boogaart’s Grocery Store in Concordia. She was a dedicated farm wife and enjoyed raising and selling Shih Tzus. A talented seamstress, Rodene also loved playing the piano and organ at the Methodist Church in Clyde. Rodene and Alvin shared a love for travel, particularly with their Cushman Club, and were avid fans of NASCAR and dirt track racing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her parents Rodney and Gladys Trimble, her brother Gene Trimble and a special nephew, Gary Headley.
Rodene is survived by her children: Alvi Bowman of Wichita, KS, Carol Simoneau of Derby, KS, Wayne (Jackie) Brooks of Winfield, KS, and Del (Michelle) Brooks of Manhattan, KS. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jeriad Bowman, LaShelle Bowman Heckart, Carrie Simoneau Heine, Cressie Simoneau Kearns, Brandon Brooks, Brittany Brooks, Jamie Brooks Fosburg, and Kyle Brooks. Rodene was blessed with 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas, with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating. Inurnment will follow the graveside service.
