Obituary of Patricia A. “Pat” Kubes

            Patricia Ann “Pat” Kubes, was born March 1, 1940 in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Connie Krieger and Irene (Hasse) Krieger Bigley and passed away on October 6, 2024 in Hebron, NE at the age of 84. 

            Pat was adopted by Lyle Bigley after her mother, Irene remarried and grew up and attended school in Lincoln, NE, graduating from Lincoln Northeast.      She then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry.     Pat then trained as a medical technologist at Lincoln General Hospital and worked at the Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital and also at the Fairbury Hospital.

            On October 3, 1964 in Lincoln, NE, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Kubes and to this union was born, Larry.    They made their home on the farm in rural Hubbell, where they farmed and raised sheep.   He preceded her in death on January 7, 2006.

            Pat was a 4-H leader, and also taught Sunday School at the Chester Methodist Church.   She was a member of the Hubbell Double X Club, the Hubbell Women’s Club, and also was the news reporter for Hubbell news.

            Pat loved to cook and sew.   She enjoyed antiquing, and working with and raising sheep.   Pat and her husband, Lawrence also enjoyed square dancing.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Irene;   Husband, Lawrence Kubes; and one brother, Byron.

            Pat is survived by one son, Larry (Katie Graves) Kubes of Indianapolis, Indiana; One brother, Lyle Bigley of Lincoln, NE; other relatives and friends.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, with Pastor Deb Hadachek, officiating.

            Interment will follow at the National Cemetery, rural Narka, Kansas.

            Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday.
