Oliver W. Swayne

Oliver W. Swayne, was born July 12, 1928 at Oxnard, California and passed away on May 4, 2012 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 22 days. Oliver grew up and attended public schools in California. Following his education, he joined the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge. He then worked in construction as a dry wall contractor in California, building new homes. Oliver then moved to Kearney, NE, where he worked in road and street construction in the Kearney, NE area for 32 years. In 2009, he moved to Courtland, KS to make his home. He was marred to Carol Ann Mattson and five children came to bless the home: Rod, Rick, Roger, Randy and Susie. Carol preceded him in death in 1995. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, and grandson: Mark. Oliver is survived by five children: Rod (Mary) Mattson of Clearwater, OK; Rick (Edna) Mattson of Omaha, NE; Roger Mattson of Courtland, KS; Randy Mattson of Courtland, KS; and Susie Walker of Morrison, OK; 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held at 4:00PM, Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Courtland, KS with Pastor Kathy Aeillo, officiating. There will no visitation as cremation was selected. Friends may call to sign the register book from One PM until 6PM on Friday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
