Obituary of Norma Jean Adams

            Norma Jean Adams, the daughter of Harold Hickman and Aldia (LaVoie) Hickman, was born May 5, 1933 in Salina, Kansas and passed away on January 30, 2022 in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 25 days.

            Norma Jean received her elementary and secondary education, and later graduated from the Miltonvale Wesleyan Academy, Miltonvale, Kansas.

            On April 26, 1953 she was united in marriage to R. Duane Adams and to this union one son, David was born.  The couple was married nearly 62 years.

            Norma Jean was a nursing assistant at the Sunset Home in Concordia, Kansas and later at the Biderwell Hospital, and later Republic County Hospital in Belleville for several years.   She then was the Church Custodian at the Wesleyan Church and later the United Presbyterian Church both in Belleville until 2008,

            Norma Jean did volunteer work at the area nursing homes for many years.   She also played the piano and entertained the residents.      She enjoyed music and singing in the Church choir.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Aldia Hickman; and her husband Duane in 2015.

            Norma Jean is survived by her son David Adams of Belleville, Kansas, one sister, Delores Wohler of Clay Center, Kansas;  nephew, Steven (Beth) Wohler of Clay Center, Kansas, Niece, Sandy (Ken) Maggy of Fairfield, California;  great niece, Angela Wohler of Hutchinson, Kansas, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Pastor Jacob Rice, officiating.   

            Interment will be at the Ida Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas.

            Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS where the family will greet friends from 4 PM – 6 PM Friday.
