It is with profound sadness, but also with a celebration of an extraordinary life, that we announce the passing of Neomia Morrissey, who left this world on June 30, 2026. Neomia was born on November 17, 1945, in Pasadena, California, to loving parents Robert Bruce Hussey and Inez Florence (Thompson) Hussey Kuhlman. Her journey on Earth was filled with love, resilience, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Neomia was a pillar of strength and love, always ready to embrace those around her with open arms. She shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, William (Bill) James Morrissey, whom she wed on November 29, 1962, in Beaumont, CA. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and laughter, raising three wonderful children and cherishing the joy of being grandparents and great-grandparents.

Neomia was preceded in death by her dear husband Bill; their infant son, William James Morrissey Jr.; her son-in-law, Jon Snapp; precious twin granddaughters, Andrea and Elizabeth; her great-grandson, Zyan Hoevers; and her cherished siblings and in-laws: Donnetta Bethurum, Guila (Doyle) Mosier, Bruce (Mary) Hussey, Harold (Juanita) Hussey, Maxine (Don) Stotts, Beverly (Richard) Hunt, and Faye (Norm) Nadeau.

She is survived by her loving children: Kathy (Mark) Jarvey of Chino, CA; Karen Snapp of Belleville, KS; and James (Tanya) Morrissey of Kansas City, MO. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Grandson, Robert (Stephanie) Munoz of Brooklyn, NY; Granddaughter, Stephanie Jarvey of Pasadena, CA; Granddaughter, Elizabeth Jarvey of Riverside, CA; Grandson, Jeremy Snapp & Great-Granddaughter, Emilie of Marquette, KS; Granddaughter, Shannon Snapp & Great-Grandson, Ronan & Great-Granddaughter, Diamond of San Francisco, CA; Granddaughter Amy Michelle Frank & Great-Granddaughter Lily of Austin, TX; Granddaughter Jennifer (Gil) Perez & Great-Grandsons Ezikel, Xander and Kyden & Great-Granddaughters Ava and Druscilla of Austin, TX; Grandson, Jimmy (Miranda) Morrissey & Great-Grandson Jaydin and Great-Granddaughter Madilynn of Jacksonville, FL; Grandson, Jayson (Haley) Morrissey of Topeka, KS.  Neomia's surviving siblings include Duane (Sheila) Hussey and Violet (Sal) Pena, both of Cherry Valley, CA, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Her family extends a heartfelt Thank You to John and Kylie Shelly and their family for their many years of help and support.

Neomia's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. She contributed to various organizations, including MC Industries, K-Mart, Scott's Specialties, Foodmart Thriftway, and ultimately retired from Loves Travel Stop in Belleville, KS. Her colleagues and friends admired her for her diligent work ethic and kind spirit.

Passionate about many things, Neomia found joy in reading, crocheting, sewing, cooking, playing cards and solving word searches. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the many trips to Disneyland, where her laughter and love were contagious.

She may have been small in stature, but she was HUGE in Love.  She was extremely strong, kicking cancer's butt.  She had a big heart and knew how to make everybody feel loved and wanted.  She shared her life experiences to help others grow.  From teaching her grandchildren to crawl up and down stairs to teaching them how to cook all of their favorite meals.  She accepted everybody into her family.  She was compassionate, nurturing, funny and understanding.  

The family invites those who wish to honor Neomia's memory to consider a donation to Susan G. Komen, an organization dear to her heart, in her fight against cancer or to the DAV-Disabled American Veterans.  She proudly supported her husband and many family members and friends who served.

The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this time and looks forward to celebrating the life of a truly remarkable woman who will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.

May Neomia Morrissey rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating.    Inurnment services will be held later in California.

Friends and family may gather prior to the services from 1:00 PM until service time on August 7, 2026 at the funeral home.
