Minnie Lee Moore made the journey into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 10th at the age of 97. Born May 27, 1926, in the rural outskirts of Leakesville, Mississippi, she was one of five sisters and a brother. Her “mama” taught Minnie a love for southern cooking, a strong work ethic, the gift for serving others, and most importantly, family.
Upon graduating from high school, Minnie stole the heart of a Navy man, Adolph Nemec, whom she was married to for 32 years. They relocated from Pensacola, FL to Narka, KS where his family resided. Shortly after, daughter Donnetta was born.
Minnie began her legacy at Foote’s Cafe in 1951 until her retirement 45 years later. Restaurant work was tough but her determination was instilled at a young age. She left a positive impact on the Chester community by making countless memories with her employees, customers, and the people she served. One of her proudest moments was Conway Twitty stopping for a tray of cinnamon rolls each time he passed through.
After Adolph passed in 1977, Minnie was united in marriage to Bill Moore for 25 years. Her greatest pride and joy were her granddaughters, Trini and Tiffany. They are grateful for the profound impact she had on their lives and by demonstrating what a true servant of God is.
Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Bert Cooley. Sisters Hazel Cruze, Flora Perkins, Francis Prentiss, Magdalene Cooley, and brother, Darrell Cooley. Husband(s) Adolph Nemec, Bill Moore.
She is survived by her daughter Donnetta (Jack) Clark of Superior, NE; Granddaughters: Trini Hendricks, Omaha, NE. Tiffany (Steve) Baehr, Gretna, NE. Great Grandchildren: Tanner Hendricks, Portland, OR, Logan (Drake) Astleford, Omaha, NE, Jayden Martin, Gretna, NE, Jace Butcher, Scottsdale, AZ and Reece Hendricks, Chicago, IL; and one sister, Bertly Henry, of Harrisburg, PA.
