Marvin Criqui Obituary

On March 29, 2024 on Good Friday, Marvin Wayne Criqui was called home to be with his loved ones and friends who have passed on before him.

He was born August 23, 1928 to Anthony A. Criqui and Letha Criqui (Vaughn) in Olivet, Ks.   Both previously passed away as his older brother Orval Criqui (Nadine).

He was married to Lavonna J Criqui (Klima) of Cuba, Ks. for 64 years and they had a son David Criqui (Cathy) of Holton,Ks, and a daughter Leslie Hyland (Pat) of Salina, Ks.  He had grandchildren Ben, Erin, Theo, Daniel, Sabrina, and Skylor, and great grandchildren.

He grew up in Lyndon, Ks and was in the Army in WWII as an engineer, stationed Ft. Lewis and Ft. Riley as well as in the Pacific Campaign.  He was also, called to duty again for the Korea war as a demolition technician. He was awarded several medals.  He went on to be a teacher at junior high schools as well as high schools. Then taught at University of Kansas before moving to Pennsylvania to work for Rockwell Manufacturing then to Raytheon. Then changed careers to sell insurance in Rockford, Illinois with his son David, before moving back to Kansas to work in the background investigation field and genealogy. He was a Rotarian, member of the Holton and Onaga Masonic Lodges, VFW, American Legion, as well as Commissioner for Jayhawk council of Boy Scouts. He was cremated in Phoenix, Arizona where he lived his last 4+ years in an Alzheimer’s care facility after his wife passed on August 13, 2019. He was very happy living at Desert Peak care facility in south Phoenix. Upon leaving this world he said to his nurse if 4+ years thank you I am ready to go.

The family will conduct graveside services at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, rural Cuba, Kansas.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Military Honor Guard.    Inurnment will follow the services.
