        Obituary of Marlyn J. Johnson

         Marlyn J. Johnson, the son of Arthur and Mable (Latendresse) Johnson, was born August 30, 1944 in Minot, North Dakota, one of a family of 12 siblings, and passed away on August 9, 2025 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 80.

            Marlyn grew up in North Dakota, attending and graduating from Granville High School.  He served with the US Army in Vietnam, during the Vietnam War from 1964-1967, serving as a teletype operator.

            After his honorable discharged, he worked at The Denver Post as a proofreader and type setter for 50 years until his retirement. He also worked part time as a paint department manager at Montgomery Ward. After retiring, he was a Handyman for friends and family.

            Marlyn was united in marriage on July 30, 1966 in Denver, Colorado to Edna Kerr and to this union, Jonetta and Andrew was born.  The couple moved to Belleville, KS recently to be near family.

            Marlyn was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed wood working. He loved baseball and the Denver Broncos. He loved helping people.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew;  grandson, Thomas; and siblings: Myrtle, Arlyss, Erling, Cleo, Myron, Leroy, Ronald.

            Marlyn is survived by his wife, Edna Johnson of Belleville, KS;  daughter, Jonetta (Don) Holbrook, of Belleville, KS;  three grandchildren,  Aaron Matuska, Connor Brown, and Elise (Chandler) Johnese;  three great granddaughters:  Iylah, Ryleigh, and Trinlee;  siblings,  Sally Ackerman, Vernie (Delores) Johnson, Carol (Bob) Mulholland, and Darlene (Fred) Nix; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

            Cremation was selected and Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003 with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
