Lonnie Dean Craig was born May 5, 1959 in Inglewood, California to Lloyd E. and Wanda D. (George) Craig and passed away March 16, 2026 at his home in Munden, Kansas, at the age of 66, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Lonnie graduated from Chester High School in 1977. Early on, he worked for Alsop Sand Company before working for KDOT for 5 years. His career of 25+ years found him at the Republic County Road Department. He later worked for Reinke Manufacturing.
On April 2, 1978 Lonnie married Roberta Hudson and they were blessed with four children, Clayton, Amy, Nathan, and Evan.
Lonnie served his community in as many ways as he could. He served for over 20 years on the Munden Volunteer Fire Department. He was involved with the Belleville Masonic Lodge and the Brantford Covenant Church. He was also an active storm spotter, member of the church choir, an avid hunter and fisherman, but above all, the most important thing to him was his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Wanda Craig, wife, Roberta Craig, sisters, Alice Craig and Anita Weant, brother, Kenneth Craig, father and mother-in-law Max and Dixie Hudson, brothers-in-law, Mike Weant, Wayne Hudson, and Jim Hudson, and sisters-in-law, Sherry Hudson, Gayle Hudson, Rachel Hoffmeyer, and Iva Jane Rodgers.
Lonnie will be remembered by his children, Clayton Craig of Munden, Kansas;, Amy (Jamon) Harms, of Deshler, Nebraska; Nathan (Jennifer) Craig of Munden, Kansas; and Evan Craig of Manhattan, Kansas. Sister Micki (Richard) Smith of Texas, brothers-in-law, Frederick (Sharon) Hudson of Aurora, Colorado, Albert (Judy) Hudson of Kansas, and Roger Hoffmeyer of Deshler, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Brenda (Melvin) Keim of Kansas. Grandchildren, Matayah, Khonor, Corban, Ava, Hudson, Cora, Cassidy, and Kaisley, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:30am at Brantford Covenant Church with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
Interment will take place at 1:30pm, Saturday at Ida Cemetery, rural Munden, KS.
Visitation and Viewing will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 from 1:00-7:00pm at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
