Libbie V. Shimek

Libbie V. Shimek, daughter of Bart W. Shulda and Frances (Benyshek) Shulda was born October 18, 1914 on a farm south east of Cuba, Kansas and passed away on January 9, 2012 at Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 21 days. She attended Beebe School, a one room school two miles east of Cuba, Kansas She was united in marriage to Ben C. Shimek on October 24, 1933 and to this union two children were born, Angela Beth and Gaylin. She worked as a nurses aide for many years and retired in 1985. She played the piano for dances with Frank Lesovsky, Stan Novak, Frank Plevka and Elmer Dolezal Bands. She was a member of the Novy Tabor Lodge #19 of Munden, Kansas, Republic County Czech Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Frances Shulda, one sister, Helen Eisenman. She is survived by one son, Gaylin Shimek of Clyde, Kansas, one daughter, Angela Reeves of Salem, Alabama two grandchildren, Gabrielle (Dustin) Henry, Larry Just Jr. Two Great Grandchildren, Two Step Grandchildren, Scott Reeves, Shane (Rick) Campbell, Step Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Ten Thirty AM, Friday, January 13, 2012, Presbyterian Church, Cuba, Kansas, conducted by, Pastor Phil Goombi and John Peterson. Interment will be made in Kopsa Cemetery, rural Cuba, Kansas Memorials may be given to Family Choice.
