LaVene Doggett Obituary

LaVene Doggett, the daughter of Tobias Allsman and Alice (Rieke) Allsman, was born August 18, 1923 at Chester, NE and passed away on April 12, 2012 at the Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, NE, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 24 days. LaVene grew up and attended the local public schools of Chester, NE, graduating from Chester High School in 1941. Following her education, she worked at the Bruning Air Base in the transportation office. She then was a telephone switchboard operator in Chester, NE and also in Belleville. LaVene was the last night time switch board operator in Belleville. She later worked at MC's, the South Kravemore at Belleville, and was a receptionist at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home, Chester, NE for several years. In June of 1959 at Hebron, NE, she was united in marriage to Bennie A. Doggett. The couple made their home in Belleville, KS. He preceded her in death on July, 29, 1985. LaVene later returned to Chester. LaVene was a member of the Women's Bowling League in Belleville, the Better Homes Club in Chester, the Chester Senior Center, and the Christian Church in Chester. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Doggett, parents: Tobias Allsman and Alice Allsman Slagle, infant brother: Dale LaVerne Allsman, and brother: Doyall Allsman. LaVene is survived by one niece Lana (John) Gillett of Chester, NE; two nephews: Mike (Renea) Allsman of Copopaxi, Colorado, and Ken (Vicki) Allsman of Port Charlotte, Florida; 10 great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Cremation was selected and Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Chester United Methodist Church, Chester, NE with Pastor Mark Baldwin, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE. Friends may call to register from One PM until Eight PM on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 7PM-8PM at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Chester, NE.
