Obituary of Karl D. Fry

            Karl D. Fry, the son of William B. Fry and Orpha M.  (Bowersox) Fry, was born February 4, 1928 in Belleville, Kansas and passed away on April 12, 2025 at Republic County Hospital at the age of 97.

            Karl attended Spring Hill Rural School and later graduated from Belleville High School.    Karl enlisted in the US Navy, attaining the rank of Seaman First Class and serving from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1947.    Following his discharge, he attended Kansas State University where he received an associate’s degree in agriculture.    Karl returned to Belleville and worked at the K-State Experimental Field.

            On September 11, 1952, he was united in marriage to Shirley Delcamp and to this union three daughters were born, Linda, Carol and Diane.  The couple made their home in rural Belleville, Kansas.

            Karl was a lifelong farmer, rancher/stockman.    He also was a clerk at the Post Office in Belleville and a rural mail carrier for many years until his retirement.

            Karl was a member of the Central Christian Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder,  Chairman of the Board, Pulpit Committee Member, and King Solomon Camp Dean.   Karl was a founding member of the Kansas Simmental Association and had the first Simmental calf born in Kansas.    He also was a board member of the American Simmental Association.  Karl was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in Belleville, Kiwanis Club, SPEBQSA-Barbershop Quartet, and a 4-H Project Leader.        Karl was a lifelong mentor to friends, family and his community.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley in 2013; brother, William E. Fry, and sister, Doris Vinsonhaler; and sons-in-law, Steve Henningsen and Kevin Anderson.

            Karl is survived by three daughters, Linda Henningsen of Salina, Kansas, Carol (Michael) Moon of Oxford, MS, and Diane Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Kristi (Charles) Hays, John Henningsen, Matthew Moon, Carolina Moon,  Jason (Jasmine) Anderson,  Caleb (Melinda) Anderson, and Ryan Anderson;  10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Central Christian Church with Lon Hardy, officiating; assisted by Al Paredes and Seth Follmer.

            Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Belleville, Kansas.

            Visitation and viewing will be from 1 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.

            Memorials are suggested to the Central Christian Church or the Manhattan Christian College and may be left at the funeral home.
