Karen attended school in Hopkinton Iowa and Peru Nebraska.
On May 20th 1972 she was united in marriage to Don G. Johnson and moved to Narka KS in 1987 and shortly started Karen's Shoppe selling toys novelties and gifts. Karen was known as the "Jewelry Lady".
They traveled from Texas to North Dakota for 25 years, working with carnivals, city celebrations, and craft shows.
For nearly 5 years they hosted Gospel singing groups at the Zion Evangelical Church in Munden KS.
October 15th 2016 Karen married James Sharp Sr in Narka KS
James and Karen attended the Narka Presbyterian Church services and fundraisers.
Karen was a hard worker and always willing to help those in need. Karen was an avid animal lover and rescuer.
Karen had many special friends including her neighbors The Hasse's. Karen was a grandmother figure to Kami Hasse her whole life, teaching Kami the same skills that her own father taught her at a young age including carpentry, jewelry making, sewing and playing cards. Karen viewed Mary Hasse and family as her own and attended holiday celebrations and birthdays. Karen enjoyed visits from Kami's children and always spoiled them with treats before sending them back home.
Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, late husband Don G Johnson and brother Frank Novak.
Karen is survived by her husband James Sharp Sr; one daughter, Letta Nathan of Minot, North Dakota; her friends and family in Narka KS, brother Alvin (Janice) Novak of Eastland Texas.
Cremation was chosen, there will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Narka Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Phil Goombi, officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Tabor Cemetery, rural Munden, KS.
Memorials are to the family and may be sent in care of the funeral home, Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
