Obituary of Kale L. Brokesh

            Kale L. Brokesh, the son of Joseph Brokesh and Millie E. (Cerny) Brokesh, was born March 11, 1940 in Belleville, Kansas and passed away on May 24, 2026 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 86.

            Kale grew up in the Munden area, attending local country schools and then attended school in Munden and graduated from Munden High School in 1958.

            Kale served with the Army National Guard, Belleville Unit, and was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961.   He was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX and Aberdeen, Maryland until 1962. 

            Kale was a farmer his entire lifetime, farming on the original family farm.   On August 19, 1962, he was united in marriage to Kathy Messman and to this union was born, Karla and Karen.   The couple made their home on the farm in rural Munden.

            Kale was a member of the Munden Community Club and Coffee Club, a school board member for USD #427 and a member of the American Legion in Belleville, KS and the American Legion in Cuba, Kansas.

            Kale loved to drive and travel and enjoyed antiquing and collecting.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Millie Brokesh; and his brother, Hubert Brokesh.

            Kale is survived by his wife, Kathy Brokesh of rural Munden, Kansas; two daughters, Karla (Steve) Dickerson of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Karen Brokesh (Greg Goheen) of Olathe, Kansas; nieces and nephews; other relatives, and friends.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating.

            Interment will follow at the Tabor Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas.

            Viewing and visitation will be from 1 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6 PM until 7 PM on Thursday.
