Obituary of Judith A. Olsen

            Judith Ann Olsen, the daughter of Harold Johnson and Maude (Matthews) Johnson, was born April 3, 1945 in Camden, New Jersey and passed away on August 13, 2023 at home surrounded by her family in Scandia, Kansas at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 10 days.

            Judith moved with her family at an early age to Belleville, KS where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Belleville High School.

             On October 28, 1964, she was united in marriage to Hans Olsen and to his union was born, Christopher and Rita.    The couple made their home in Scandia, KS.

            Judith worked at MC Industries for nearly 28 years, and later worked for Precision Dynamics, and Scott’s Specialties until her retirement in 2016.

            She enjoyed reading books, sewing & embroidery, crafts and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

            Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Maude Johnson; Step-father, Ben Kopsa; brother, Johnny Johnson, and son, Christopher Olsen.

            She is survived by her husband, Han Olsen of Scandia, KS; one daughter, Rita (Johnny) Barnes of Belleville, KS; four grandchildren,  Samantha (Chris) Smith, Jennifer (Chuck) Sjogren, Brody (Cally) Barnes, and Austin (Lauren) Barnes;  two great grandchildren, Brooklyn Smith and Ruby Sjogren;   one brother, Harold (Barb) Johnson of Marysville, KS;  step-brothers,  Ray Kopsa and Hal (Theresa) Kopsa; other relatives and friends.

            Cremation was selected and memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, Kansas.

            Inurnment will follow the graveside services.

            Memorials are suggested to the Meadowlark Hospice.
