Obituary of Jonathan Robert Snapp
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Commercial Building at the Fairgrounds, Belleville, KS. This will be an informal gathering in memory of Jon that will begin at 2:00 PM and friends are welcome to come and go as they wish. Casual attire is requested.
A MEAL AND REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED.
Friends may sign the register book and leave memorial remembrances at the gathering. The family will have private services at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home.
Jon R. Snapp, 49, of Belleville, KS, passed away on September 1, 2020 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS. Jon was born March 28, 1971 in Manhattan, KS the son of Lawrence B. Coleman, Jr., and Dianna K. (Trzicky) Snapp. Lawrence was killed in Vietnam when Jon was 4 months old and was later adopted by Thomas J. Snapp when he was 6 years old.
Jon grew up in Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School in 1989. He then attended Arizona Automotive Institute where he received degrees in diesel mechanics and automotive technology. Jon worked for Ken-Boy Motors in Hebron, NE until 1998 as a service manager and mechanic. He then owned and operated Snapp’s Service on Highway 36 in Belleville with his wife Karen for 6 years. Jon then began working for Melton Motors and was still employed there up until his cancer diagnosis. In addition to being an ASE Certified Mechanic, he was a General Motors Master Technician. In 2007, Jon was named a World Class Technician, a highly prestigious award from General Motors.
On June 27, 1993, he was united in marriage to Karen Morrissey. In 1995, Jon (at only 24 yrs. old) and Karen graciously adopted three teenage children: Jeremy, Shannon, and Amy.
Jon was an Eagle Scout and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS. He was a musician and played drums in the high school band. Jon was a self-taught craftsman. He had an amazing ability to repair or build any project you placed before him. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and in the great outdoors.
Jon was preceded in death by his biological Father, Lawrence B. Coleman, Jr; his grandparents, George & Jane Trzicky and Bill & Wilma Snapp; and his Father-in-Law, William Morrissey.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Snapp of Belleville, KS; Children, Jeremy R. Snapp of Marquette, KS, Dr. Shannon (Randall) Snapp of San Francisco, California, and Amy Michelle Frank of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Emilie Snapp, Lily Frank, and Ronan Fleming; Parents, Tom and Dianna Snapp of Belleville, KS; one Brother, Jeremy J. (Gretta) Snapp of Belleville, KS; Sister-in-law, Kathy (Mark) Jarvey of Chino, California; Brother-in-law, James (Tanya) Morrissey of Kansas City, MO; Mother-in-law, Neomia Morrissey of Belleville, KS; niece and nephew, Frankie & Farmer Snapp; other nieces /nephews & relatives; and his puppies, Maycee Mae and Lucy Lou.
