Jay H Jensen

Obituary of Jay H. Jensen:

     Jay H. Jensen, son of Herbert Jensen and Mildred (Schlamann) Jensen was born October 20, 1953 at Superior, NE and passed away on August 20, 2020 at his home in Chester, NE at the age of 66.

     Jay was raised on a farm near Hardy, NE with six siblings: John, Jesse, Jim, Jerry, Jolene and Serita.  He was baptized on November 8, 1953 at Salem Lutheran Church, Superior, NE and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hardy, NE.    He attended school in Hardy, NE and graduated in 1972 from Hardy High School.  In high school he was active in band, football and basketball. He went two years at Curtis Vo Tech College in Curtis, NE. 

     Jay was united in marriage on April 15, 1978 to Linda Kapperman and to this union 3 children were born, Michael, Kevin and Jenilee.   

     Jays favorite things were faith, family, especially grandkids, farming, classic cars, horses and his coffee times with friends and talks with the neighbors.

     He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, NE, where he held various church offices and served as head usher. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mildred Jensen, two brothers, John Jensen and Jesse Jensen.

     He is survived by his wife, Linda Jensen of Chester, NE, two sons, Michael Jensen of Chester, NE, Kevin (Karen) Jensen of Rockford, IL, one daughter, Jenilee Harms (Jordan) of Chester, NE, three grandchildren, Hayden, Tabitha and Harlow, two brothers, James Jensen of Nelson, NE, Jerry (Gail) Jensen of North Platte, NE, two sisters, Jolene (Steve) Palandri of York, NE, Serita (Darold) Karmazin of Lincoln, NE sister in laws, Merideth Jensen of Clay Center, NE, Carolyn  Jensen of Superior, NE, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and many friends

     Graveside services and Interment will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Chester, NE, conducted by, Pastor Robert Hopkins.   All are welcome to attend

     Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, NE, Chester Fire and Rescue, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

     Viewing will be Friday, August 21, 2020 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Chester, NE.
