Ivan C. Carlgren

Ivan Carlyle Carlgren, the son of Edward Carlgren and Inga (Tiller) Carlgren, was born September 2, 1912 at Norway, KS and passed away on Sept.25, 2011 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS at the age of 99 years and 23 days. Ivan grew up and attended the local public schools of Norway, KS, graduating from Norway High School in 1932. Following his schooling, Ivan began farming. He farmed his entire lifetime in the Norway area. On June 27, 1943 at the Ada Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to Aileen Nelson and to this union was born: Robert, Elaine, Ina Jean, and Edward. The couple made their home in Norway. Ivan was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Norway where he held various offices through the years. He served on the board of the Co-op Services Association, was a member of the Republic County Farm Bureau, and served on the Norway School Board. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter-Ina Jean, three brothers: Carrol, Loren, and Joseph; son-in-law- Lonnie Sedlacek, and sister-in-law Gladys Carlgren. Ivan is survived by his wife Aileen Carlgren of Norway, KS; Two sons: Robert Carlgren (Emily) of Norway, KS and Edward Carlgren (Jane Ann) of Scandia, KS; one daughter- Elaine Sedlacek of Belleville, KS; 10 grandchildren: Troy Carlgren (Allison) of Courtland, KS, Tarra Freberg (Eric) of Overland, Park, KS, Terelle Mock (Tim) of Lawrence, KS, LaJean Sedlacek of Beaumont, TX, Jolene Okara (Amos) of Winchester, VA, Dalynn Sedlacek of Blue Springs, MO Michelle Sedlacek of Belleville, KS, Ryan Carlgren(Lori) of Formoso, KS, Lisa Manley (Colby) of Eudora, KS, Bret Carlgren (Katie) of Courtland, KS; 16 great grandchildren: Dawson, Brody and Brailyn Carlgren, Dane, Drew, Dylan, and Lauren Freberg; Ashley Mock, Nathan Okara, Briauna White, Brayden, Cajsa, and Clayton Carlgren; Mia and Kole Manley, and Brandt Carlgren; one brother: Charles Carlgren (Vivian) of Norway,KS and one sister Evelyn Heltne (Bernie) of Norway, KS; sister-in-laws Norma Carlgren of Norway, KS and Clarice Pruitt of Miltonvale, KS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Norway, KS with Pastor Delvin Strecker and Pastor Art Bliese, officiating. Interment will follow at the Norway Cemetery, Norway, KS Friends may call from 12 Noon-9PM Wednesday, and from 9AM-9PM on Thursday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home , Scandia,KS.
