Gene L. Blackwood

Gene Laverne Blackwood, son of Henry Blackwood and Alice (Stichka) Blackwood was born July 7, 1937 at Courtland, Kansas and passed away on September 11, 2012 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 4 days. Gene received his education in the Courtland, Kansas public schools. He served with the United States Army in the 101st airborn division. He was united in marriage to Rose M. Williams on October 8, 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alice Blackwood, two brothers, Pat and Richard, one step son, Steve Higle. He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Blackwood of Scandia, Kansas, two step sons, Marty (Cheryl) Higle of Salina, Ks, Bren Conn of Grand Island, Nebraska, three step grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Two PM, Friday, September 14, 2012 at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, Kansas, conducted by, Pastor Charles Peters. Interment will be in Courtland Cemetery, Courtland, Kansas Memorials may be given to Family Choice.
