Frieda Bohling

Frieda Anna Emma Bohling, the daughter of Herman Hoops and Margaret (Suchsland) Hoops, was born October 31, 1909 at Harbine, KS and passed away on March 15, 2012 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home, Hebron, NE at the age of 102 years, 4 months, and 14 days. Frieda received her education at Byron School District 68. At an early age, she lived on the family farm just east of Byron. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was baptized by Pastor F. Vetter on Nov. 7, 1909 and was confirmed by Pastor R. Wagner on Aug. 26, 1923. On April 22, 1932, she was united in marriage by Pastor Schardt to Herman J. Bohling and to this union was born two sons; LaVern and Loren. The couple made their home on the family farm for many years. Frieda crocheted many doilies, baby booties, baby blankets, jackets and caps for many of the children of the Bryon community. She also made afghans and quilts for friends and family most of all of her life. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her husband Herman J. Bohling on April 14, 1994, and three sisters: Anna Ritterling, Minnie Gebers, and Marie Duensing. She is survived by two sons: LaVern Bohling and his wife Janice of South Byron, NE and Loren Bohling and his wife Arlene of Chester, NE; seven grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Byron NE, with Pastor Tom Miller, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
