Evelyn McClure Obituary

Evelyn Gertrude McClure, 91, daughter of Arnt and Hulda Gustafson Carlson, was born November 23, 1926 at Norway, Kansas and died January 17, 2018 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. In 1919, at age 12, she was confirmed at Amana Lutheran Church in Scandia, KS. In 1944, she graduated from Republic High School and attended college summer sessions, and then taught in Republic area schools. On December 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to William McClure, Jr. They had two children, Alan and Alana. She became a member of the Republic United Methodist Church in 1967, taught Primary Sunday School for many years, and was a former choir member. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant twin brother, John Albert; son, Alan McClure; husband of 66 years, Bill; sister, Eldine Reynolds. Survivors include her daughter, Alana and husband Mike Maris, Wichita, KS; daughter-in-law, Marybeth Harwick, Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter, Misti and husband Joe Burch, Wichita, KS; grandson, Spencer and wife Erin McClure, Fort Worth, TX; and great grandchildren, Parker and Palmer Burch of Wichita, KS. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, Republic, KS with Pastor Roger Walls, officiating. Interment will be at the Prairie Rose Cemetery, rural Republic, KS. Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM Wednesday prior to the services at the Republic United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Church, the Rae Hobson Memorial Library, or Republic Community Improvement Committee (RCIC).
