Obituary of Donna R. Svoboda

            Donna Ruth Svoboda, the daughter of Desmond (Jimmy) Frank James and Rosie Anna (Stierwalt) James, was born February 3, 1948 at Hubbell, Nebraska and passed away on September 1, 2023 at CHI St. Elizabeth, Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 10 days.

            Donna grew up in the Hubbell, NE area, graduated from Munden High School.      On June 25, 1966 she was united in marriage to Marion (Butch) Joyce Svoboda.   The couple made their home in Narka, Kansas.

            Donna operated a day care for time and later worked at MC Manufacturing in Belleville, Kansas.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Walthers’ Oil Company and also at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS in housekeeping.

            Donna was a member of the Narka Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Rosie James,  her husband Butch Svoboda in 2002; grandchild, Donna Stradley; sister, Joyce A. (Jerry) Manley, Barbara R. (Harry) Patterson; two brother-in-law’s, Duane Svoboda and Jerry Achtemeier; and a niece, Cortney Hansen-Hatesohl.

            Donna is survived by 4 sons, Russell E. (Evon) Svoboda of Hubbell, NE, Michal S. (Beth) Svoboda of Narka, Kansas, Kenneth A. Svoboda of Narka, KS; and David B. (Kelli) Svoboda of Hubbell, NE;  Grandchildren:  Nathaniel, Alta, Cordtial, Timothy, Michelle, Melissa, Laura, Leyton, Brianna, Keyton, Travis, and Ryan;  Great grandchildren:  Jamie, Braydan, Oliver, Dakota, Kayley, Tara, Liam, Clara, Warren, Amelia;  two great great grandchildren:  Cyrus and Birdie;  one sister, Merry Jo Hansen of Belleville, KS; brother, Jimmy B. (Eileen) James of Wamego, KS; sister-in-law, Shirley E. Achtemeier of Fairbury, NE; other relatives and friends.

            Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Narka Presbyterian Church, Narka, KS with Kathleen Marsicek, officiating.

            Eastern Star Services will be conducted prior to the interment.

            Interment will follow at the National Cemetery, rural Narka, KS.

            Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 5th at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.

            Memorials are suggested to the Donna Svoboda Memorial Fund to be decided at a later time.
