            Dennis J. Frye, the son of Gerald L. Frye and Ernestine Katherine Anna (Grueber) Frye was born May 15, 1941 in Byron, NE and passed away on May 16, 2026 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 85.

            Dennis grew up in the Byron, NE area, graduating from Byron High School in 1959.   He then attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, where he received his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education and Psychology.  Dennis taught school in Davenport, NE from 1966 until 1968 as a math and guidance counselor.   He then taught in Deshler, NE for 10 years through 1978, teaching Math, Physics, was a Guidance Counselor, and led the Annual Yearbook staff and photography/darkroom.

            Dennis then began farming, raising cattle and hogs and later moved to Sacramento, CA where he worked for Spencer Composite, serving government contracts and manufacturing in research and development.   In 2011, he returned to the area and worked for Reinke Mfg. at Deshler, NE, in research and development until his retirement in 2025.

            Dennis was united in marriage to Opal Schlueter on August 24, 1962 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron, NE and they were later divorced.   He was later married to Susan Sixt in Sacramento, CA and they were later divorced.

            Dennis enjoyed many hobbies and interests including, model airplanes and trains, photography, playing guitars and keyboards, Yo’ Yo’s, sporting goods, and operating ham radios.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Ernestine Grueber; bonus son,  Scott Hansen on Feb. 6, 2026; and his sister,  Linda Spencer.

            Dennis is survived by his brother, Steven Frye; brother-in-law, Brian Spencer;   special friend, Maxine Watkins; other relatives and close special friends.

            Cremation was selected and Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating.

            An informal gathering of friends will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday, May 30th at the funeral home where friends may sign the register book.   Casual attire is requested.

            Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Washington Cemetery, rural Republic, KS.

            Memorials are suggested to the Deshler High School/FFA/Greenhouse and may be mailed to Bachelor-Surber, P.O. Box 326, Belleville, KS 66935 or left at the funeral home.
