Obituary of Dan Montgomery

            Dan Montgomery, the son of Mane and Maria (Mary) Stipanovich, was born July 15, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on March 19, 2024 at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, Kansas at the age of 95.

            Dan served with the U.S. Marines during W. W. II, attaining the rank of Midshipman-Corporal.

             Following his honorable discharge Dan attended Ohio State University and later received a B.S. Degree in Ceramic Engineering at Alfred State University in 1953.   He attended graduated school for his master’s degree at Penn State University in Ceramic Technology.

            Dan was involved in companies in Crooksville, Sebring, Carrollton, and Cleveland, Ohio, working in the ceramic engineering industry and steel manufacturing from 1953 until 1969.   Dan developed and designed a part for the blast furnace at Republic Steel where he was in development and research.   He later was manager of refractory development at Basic Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio, and later returned to Republic Steel.

            He then was a consultant for an accounting firm in Canton, Ohio and then was self-employed as an accountant and business consultant in Mansfield, Ohio until his retirement.

            In 2004, Dan moved to Belleville, KS to make his home.

            He is survived by two brothers, William Montgomery of Dublin, Ohio and Steven Montgomery of Shadyside, Ohio ; several nieces and nephews:  Michael Montgomery, Aiden Montgomery, Olive Montgomery, Sarah Bartula, Everett Bartula, and Jackson Bartula.

            Cremation was selected and family services and inurnment will be held at a later date in Ohio.
