Obituary for Brenda Sue Hayes Brown

Brenda Hayes Brown (1958–2025)

Brenda Hayes Brown, 67, of Winter Springs, FL, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by her husband, family, and friends.

Brenda was born on February 19, 1958, in Kingston, NY, to Robert (Bob) Hayes and Norma (Naysmith) Hayes. She married Richard (Rick) Brown on January 2, 1999, and together they shared over 26 years of life, love, and unwavering commitment to one another.

She will be remembered for her deep love for her husband and family, her generous heart and unwavering loyalty, her keen intelligence and sharp wit, her tireless involvement in the community, and her passion for genealogy. Brenda was the co-founder of Rhythm and Blues Enterprises, which owns and operates several Tijuana Flats restaurants, as well as Pickles New York Deli.

She was an active member of many heritage organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United States Daughters of 1812, the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Brenda was also a member of the University of Central Florida Town and Gown Council, a past treasurer of that organization, and spent many years on the Board of Directors of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Brenda adored her dogs, especially her beloved Silky Terriers, and together with Rick, she rescued nine dogs throughout their marriage. She also had a deep appreciation for classic cars and her Scottish heritage, proudly supporting the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games for many years as a Gold Sponsor.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Rick; her mother, Norma; her three stepsons, Sean, Justin, and Brendan; her brother, Randy; her sister, Sheryl; nieces, Allyson and Carly; nephew, Andrew; as well as her aunt Nancy and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held in Oviedo, FL.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE, with Fr. Jon Davis, officiating.

Interment will follow the graveside services.    No viewing or visitation is planned at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville and friends may gather prior to the service at Chester Cemetery.
