Bertil W. Nelson

Obituary of Bertil W. Nelson: Bertil W. Nelson, son of Otto C. Nelson and Olive H. (Lundquist) Nelson was born May 22, 1931 at rural Scandia, Kansas and passed away on July 31, 2018 at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 9 days. He graduated from Kansas State University. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1955 and then returned to farm in Courtland. He was united in marriage to Marjorie J. (Feasel) Hickman on November 29, 1968, and later moved to Belleville, Ks. where he retired from Precision Dynamics. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scandia and Courtland, KS. Though small in stature and a man of few words, few also had a bigger heart or spoke more loudly through their actions. Adored by family, loved by friends, and co-workers and respected within the community, Bert will be remembered fondly and missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Olive Nelson, three sisters, Kathryn Fike, Clarice Fredrickson, Irene Renken, four brothers, Vincent Nelson, Clarence Nelson, Leslie Nelson, Albert Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Nelson of Belleville, KS, one son, Steve (Dana) Nelson of Concordia, KS, three daughters, Pam (Jerry) Unruh of Durham, KS, Michelle (Rob) Jensen of Salina, KS, Dawn (Doug) Jackson of Belleville, KS, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Harold (Evelyn) Nelson of Manhattan, KS, other relatives and many friends. He bequeathed his body to the University of Kansas Medical School. Memorial services will be held Two PM, Saturday, August 25, 2018, Central Christian Church, 24th & O Street, Belleville, KS, conducted by, Pastor Kathy Aeillo. Private family inurnment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS at a later date. Memorials may be given to Bertil W. Nelson memorial fund.
