Virleen Mumm Obituary

Obituary of Virleen J. Mumm Virleen Joy Derowitsch Mumm was born to Elmer Derowitsch and Bernice (Elliott) Derowitsch on March 15, 1930 on the family farm southeast of Chester, Nebraska and passed away on March 18, 2019 at Osceola, Nebraska at the age of 89 years and 3 days. Virleen attended star school district 57 in Rose Creek Township in Republic County and then attended high school in Chester, Nebraska for three years and then graduated her senior year in 1947 from Belleville High School. Upon graduating Virleen attended additional schooling that qualified her to teach elementary school at Lowland County School and District #66 in Republic County Kansas. Virleen was united in marriage on April 26, 1950 to William John (Bill) Mumm and to this union three sons were born, Bradley Gene, Timothy Paul and Scotty Ray. Virleen was active in UMW, teaching Sunday School, VBS, Hubbell Women's Club, Hubbell Double XX Extension Club and assistant leader in Chester 4-H Livestock Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bernice Derowitsch, husband, William Mumm on July 27, 1997, brothers, Billy Derowitsch, Max Derowitsch and his wife Huetta. She will be forever remembered by her sister Bernita Donaldson and husband Don, brother in law, Elmore Palmer and wife Mary Ann, Ronnie Mumm and wife Bonnie, sister in law, Catherine Derowitsch. She is also survived by her three sons, Bradley Mumm and wife Cindy of Pleasanton, TX, Timothy Mumm and Bari of Western, NE, Scot Mumm and wife Deb of Hebron, NE. She was blessed with grandchildren, Stephanie Witt and husband Tyler, Victoria and her husband Anthony and their children, Braxton and Kendly, Anthony Mumm and wife Kristin, Ryanne Mumm, William Mumm, Kelsey Wood and husband Alex, Tanner Mumm and special friend Anna. She was also blessed with step grandchildren, Kari Mumm and her children, Marrisa and Justin Mumm, Wyatt and Seth Browning, Janel Mumm Hedborg and husband John and their son William. Virleen is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, March 22, 2019, United Methodist Church, Chester, Nebraska, conducted by Pastor Rick Jones. Interment will be in Chester City Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church, Chester, Nebraska. Friends may call on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM. Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS in charge of arrangements.
