Max Larkins Obituary

Max Ellsworth Larkins, 90, of Bellevi1le, went to be with Lord on May 19, 2012 in Hebron, Nebraska with family around him. Max was born March 25, 1922 to Frank and Florence (Eickman) Larkins in rural Belleville, Kansas. He attended school at Liberty Center and graduated from Chester High School in 1940. Max married Lois Nisley of Bennet NE in August 1954. To this union five children were born, James, Duane, Kenneth, Dale and Rebecca. Max was preceded in death by Lois in March 1969. Max married Evelyn Coons Malstead in August 1984. The marriage brought to the family Evelyn's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Max worked at the family service station at Chester, Nebraska. He also farmed and raised livestock south of Chester and was an assessor for Republic County. He was a member of the Chester United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir for 70 years, an active 4-H leader, a member of the Fort Butler Rock Club and Republic County Historical Society. He served as Liberty township trustee for numerous years. Max was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lois Larkins, brother Jean Larkins, and sister Pauline Frye, and nephews Darrel, Larry, and Curtis Larkins and niece Jeri, grandson David Malstead, and great granddaughter Alyx Sasser. He is survived by wife Evelyn of their home. One Brother, Howard Larkins of Concordia, Kansas, children, James Larkins (Shelly) of Manhattan, Duane Larkins, (Kathy Priefert) Chester, Nebraska, Kenneth (Glenda) of Belvue, Kansas, Dale Larkins, Greeley, Colorado, Rebecca Linder (John), McHenry, Illinois. Ramona (David) Hieins of Abilene, KS, Glenda (Gary) Willis of Belleville, KS, and Eric (Ruth) Malstead of Wichita, KS. Grandchildren and step grandchildren include: Levi Larkins, Hannah and Emma Linder, Claire Larkins, Kelli Rice, Adam Robertson, Jamie Rodregrez, Jared Sasser, Jordon Sasser and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Chester United Methodist Church in Chester, Nebraska, conducted by, Pastor Mark Baldwin. Burial will be in Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to family choice.
