Obituary of Lorene A. Nickerson:

     Lorene A. Nickerson, daughter of Wilford Macy and Sarah (Vanderlip) Macy was born January 27, 1916 at rural Woodston, KS and passed away on November 8, 2019 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 103 years, 9 months and 11 days.

     Lorene attended the rural one room school for eight years and graduated from Woodston Rural High School in 1934 and from Asbury School of Nursing in 1939.  She came to Belleville to work for Dr. Beiderwell at the Patterson Memorial Hospital in 1940.  She retired from nursing in 1983 after working at the Belleville Hospital and Republic County Hospital. 

     She was united in marriage to Donald O. Nickerson on October 19, 1941 and to this union three children were born, Donald A., Charlotte A., Duane L.

     She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS, United Methodist Women, charter member of Stardust Study Club, charter member of the Naomi Circle.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Sarah Macy, husband, Donald O. Nickerson, daughter, Charlotte A. Currie, four brothers, Charles, Gordon, Leo, Leon, four sisters, Loretta, Charlotte, Bessie, Arlene.

     She is survived by two sons, Donald A. (Betty) Nickerson of Scandia, KS, Duane L. (Carolyn) Nickerson of Omaha, NE, son in law, Bob Currie of Goodland, KS,  six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three sister in laws, Irene Macy, Catherine Macy, Norma Nickerson, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019, First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS, conducted by, Rev. Sang Hak Lee.

     Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.

     In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS or the charity of your choice.

     Friends may call on Monday, November 11, 2019, from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM.
