Obituary of Floyd E. Poppe

            Floyd Earl Poppe, 85, the son of Walter and Marie (Ehlers) Poppe, was born April 22, 1934 in rural Chester, NE and passed away on June 19, 2019 at Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, NE.

            He received his education at the St. John Parochial School, Chester, NE.

Floyd worked at the lumber yard in Byron, NE for a time and then began driving trucks for companies in the Thayer County area such as Footes, Peake, Becker, and Superior Transfer.   He also worked at the Hilltop Station in Superior.

            On September 24, 1961 he was united in marriage to Irene Lunzmann and to this union 5 children were born.

            Floyd was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Byron and the Eagles Club.

            He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Marie Poppe;  infant children:  Timothy and Rhonda;  one brother-Robert; two sisters, Arlene Bohling and Lenetta Louise Poppe; sister in law-Vicki Poppe and brother in law Lyle Watkins.

            Floyd is survived by his children:  Carol Tietjen of Hardy, NE, Kenny (Kristi) Poppe of Byron, NE, and Lori (Rick) Fayle of Deshler, NE; 7 grandchildren, Dalen (Darcie) Tietjen, Kendra Tietjen, Ashley Fayle, Angel Fayle, Lexi Fayle, Nicholas Poppe, and Katelyn Poppe; one great grandchild, Baylee Fowler;  2 step great grandchildren, Dakota and McKenzie Breuer; one step great great grandchild:  Clay Henderson;  Two sisters, Maxine Watkins of Chester, NE and Phyllis (Larry) Harms of Lincoln, NE;  3 brothers, Marvin (Joyce) Poppe of Chester, NE, Melvin (Lorie) Poppe of Sutton, NE, and Richard Poppe of Byron, NE, brother in law Loren Bohling of Byron, NE; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

            Cremation was selected and Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron, NE with Reverend Breen Sipes, officiating.

            Inurnment will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

            The family will greet friends from 1 PM until Service time on Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church.

            Memorials are suggested to the Floyd E. Poppe Memorial.
